How to make a payment

How to pay for your Steady membership, which payment methods are available, and what to do if a payment fails.

You can pay for your Steady membership with PayPal, Apple Pay, credit card or direct debit. You choose how you’d like to pay when you join a publication, and you can change it at any time.

The methods available to you depend on the currency you pay in. See all payment methods and supported currencies.

Change your payment method

You can update your payment method at any time in your settings under Memberships > Payment Method.

If a payment didn’t go through

If a payment didn’t go through, first check that your payment details are still valid and, if needed, update your payment method in your settings. If the payment still won’t go through, email us at support@steadyhq.com and we’ll help you sort it out.

Which payment method should I choose?

Any of them work. If you can, direct debit is a great choice: it carries the lowest payment fee (1 percent of your payment plus a small fixed fee – €0.20 for payments in euros), meaning the publisher gets to keep more of what you pay.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. To process payments securely and in a compliant way, Steady works with the payment service provider GoCardless for SEPA direct debit, and with Braintree for credit card payments.
