How can I block AI training for my content on Steady?

We can disallow bots for AI tools like ChatGPT and Google Bard from crawling your content

How to Block AI Tools from Training on Your Published Content

If you don’t want AI tools like ChatGPT training on your published content, you can block AI training yourself – directly in your project settings.

How to enable it

  1. In the Steady backend, open your project settings.

  2. Enable the option “Block AI training”.

  3. Save your changes. You can switch the setting off again at any time.

What the setting does

When enabled, Steady marks your content as off-limits for AI training in two ways:

  • Your Steady page’s robots.txt tells known AI crawlers – such as GPTBot (OpenAI), ClaudeBot (Anthropic), CCBot, Google-Extended, PerplexityBot and others – not to access your content.

  • Your pages additionally carry “noai” and “noimageai” meta tags.

This only applies to AI tools that respect these signals, so it may not completely block all AI training on your content. However, it is a useful tool for protecting your work.

Note that blocking AI training may also limit your publication’s discoverability in tools and search engines that return AI-generated results.
