It’s easy to import your contacts from another newsletter or membership service to Steady. Importantly, it’s also secure – data protection is important to us and we are fully GDPR compliant. Once you’re set up on Steady, you retain the rights to your content and audience.
In this article we cover:
Importing newsletter subscribers
If your existing newsletter tool allows you to export your subscriber list as a CSV file, you can import them to Steady. Here are instructions for some of the most common platforms, but if yours isn't listed, don't worry – most professional e-mail providers support this.
Brevo (ehemals SendInBlue)
Once you have the list, you can go ahead with the import.
On the subscribers page in your Steady backend, click on the "import subscribers" button. You will be redirected to the import page. If you don't see this button, please reach out to our Support team. This feature is not available to all users.
Confirm that you have obtained an explicit opt-in from all contacts to be added to my subscriber list.
Upload a CSV file with your subscribers (find a template here). This CSV file should contain only two columns: a) email b) opt-in date
When asked to choose a separator, use a semicolon if using the example file. Otherwise, choose the one used in your file
Tell us what the email column is called on the CSV (if using the example CSV: "email")
Tell us what the opt-in date column is called on the CSV (if using the example CSV: "opted_in_at")
You're done! If everything goes well, you will get an email listing the successful imports and the errors with the import.
Should you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out to support again.
Importing members
If you already have paying members on another platform, we can also help you move them to Steady.
Reach out to us with the URL of your current website, along with your email address. A member of our support team will be in touch shortly to help you securely migrate your contacts to Steady.
The easiest way for us to process your contact list is using a CSV file. If you are able to do so, go ahead and export a CSV file of your subscriber list from your current newsletter or membership service. Ideally it will include the following details:
First name
Last name
Email address
Country
Date of opt-in
And if your contacts hold active memberships, their membership period (monthly or annual) and membership end date
If you haven’t done so already, go ahead and set up your Steady page. Then as soon as we are in touch, you will be able to import your contacts and start using Steady with your existing community.
