This article is for publishers. With your own domain, visitors reach your Steady page, your posts and the checkout under your address (e.g. example.org) instead of steady.page.
Status: not currently available. We tested custom domains with a small group of projects. The feedback was poor, so we switched the feature off again for most of them. We are not setting up new custom domains at the moment, and there is no waiting list to join. The feature may come back later, but we cannot give a date.
If your project does not have it, the Custom domain entry in your settings sends you back to the dashboard without a message. That is not a fault in your project – it just means the feature is not switched on for it.
Your steady.page address is the supported way to run your project, and everything on Steady works on it.
If your project already has a custom domain
A small number of projects still run on their own domain. For those, this is what applies.
You find the domain and its status under Settings → Custom domain. After a domain is added, activation takes up to 72 hours; until then the status shows “pending”, after that a green checkmark appears.
Your existing steady.page address stays valid and keeps working in parallel.
The domain cannot be edited after saving – to change it, delete the entry and create it again.
On your custom domain your project language applies, and the login is not shared with steady.page – members log in there separately.
A few things do not work on a custom domain: the cookie banner, the in-app support chat and message notifications.
Custom sender address for newsletters
The same settings page also offers a custom sender address (e.g. news@example.org), so that your post and automation emails come from your address instead of Steady’s newsletter address. It belongs to the same feature and is subject to the same status above – we are not setting up new ones at the moment either.
Where it is already set up: the address cannot be edited after saving, one email domain can only be used by one Steady project, and you should only switch sending over to your own address at least 72 hours after setup – otherwise emails may fail to be delivered.
