Adding one or multiple external podcast feeds to Steady

You can add a paywall to an external RSS feed to offer it to different membership plans

Updated yesterday

Juggling multiple shows? Want to make your podcast premium without switching hosts? Steady integrates with external podcast platforms to give you full control over how your shows are managed and monetised, no re-uploading required.

Through our dashboard, you can:

  • Connect any externally hosted podcast feed to your Steady project

  • Create separate premium feeds for each of your podcasts

  • Grant access to each feed for a specific (or several) membership plan(s)

  • Submit feeds to Spotify and/or distribute them via RSS

If you only need a single feed, and aren’t tied to an external host, you can still choose to publish your podcast directly on Steady. But if you're looking for more advanced setup options, here’s everything you need to know.

How to add an externally host podcast

  1. Go to your Steady dashboard and head to Podcasts

  2. Click “Add podcast"

  3. Choose where to host your podcast

    • You can continue to publish and host one podcast on Steady.

    • You can add unlimited podcasts hosted externally. Choose this option here.

  4. Add your unlisted RSS feed into the URL field.

  5. To verify that you own the RSS feed, we’ll send a verification code to the email connected with the feed. Enter the code to proceed.

  6. Select the membership plan(s) that should get access to this feed.

  7. Decide how to distribute:

    • RSS only — for members who prefer to listen on apps like Apple Podcasts, Overcast, or Pocket Casts

    • Spotify + RSS — so your members can listen on Spotify too

That's it! Your podcast feed is now premium and connected to your membership tiers.

Managing multiple podcasts on Steady

There's no limit to the number of external podcast feeds you can add following the steps above. This means you can handle multiple podcasts within one Steady project, each with its own settings and access rules. Here's how to manage each of them.

  • On your Podcasts page, you will see the list of all your podcasts.

  • On each individual Podcast page, you can manage which membership plan should get access to which feed.

  • Your members will see one or multiple podcasts on their membership card (and on the thank you page and in the email we send to them after purchase).

A membership card with two podcasts would look like this:
